Mother’s Day in Australia falls on the same day as Mother’s Day in the US – the second Sunday in May. As we all know, many people mark this day as a chance to spoil their Mums, who typically receive cards, gifts or breakfast in bed as a token of love and appreciation of all the hard work that goes into being a mother!

While some people may think that card manufacturers and florists invented Mother’s Day, it has actually been around for thousands of years. ‘Mothering Sunday’ was celebrated annually during Lent in 16th century England and prior to this, maternal goddesses were honored during an ancient Greek spring festival.

Mother’s Day in Australia is a busy day for restaurants, tearooms and spas!
