On a trip around Asia and Australia, Asha and Brock’s fourth stop was Bangkok, where they spent a week touring the highlights of the region.

Bangkok is a treasure trove of things to do no matter what age you are, and while it might not seem a kid-friendly place at first, there’s a range of experiences your toddlers, tweens or teenagers will love.

Bangkok as a sprawling and busy metropolis is jam-packed with culture and sights to see, but it is not so well-known to people that there is a spacious place to spend some time relaxing in a natural environment—Bang Krajao Park is that place.

Bangkok may be a sprawling metropolis filled with bumper to bumper traffic and overwhelming above-ground subways, but that does not mean there is not an opportunity to get yourself a bicycle and enjoy the back roads of beautiful Thailand.

Though known as a “backpackers’ ghetto,” Bangkok‘s famous Khao San Road is now brimming with upscale amenities including spas, boutiques, salons, fine dining, and even a Starbucks. The budget-minded need not fear, however, as the “bed in a box” hotels, street food, and illicit activities are still accessible and make the area one of the best places in city to try and stretch a buck (or a baht, as it were).

Thailand’s capital city is teeming with cultural activities and interesting events. Even if you show up in Bangkok and strike out on your own in pretty much any direction, you’re likely to happen upon something that will entertain you. However, the experienced traveler knows that preparation is your watchword. The following annual events should help you select the ideal time to plan your visit.
