We asked our Barcelona Expert, Gloria, how she’d spend a one day tour of the best of Barcelona and here’s what she had to say.

City of Barcelona

Ascend Montjuic Hill for panoramic views of the city and harbor, and admire the 1992 Olympic Stadium before taking a panoramic drive along Passeig de Gracia for the best examples of modern buildings by Gaudi and other architects. Continue to La Sagrada Familia church for an external view of the city’s most famous building and then walk throughout the narrow and charming streets of city’s medieval Gothic Quarter with its imposing Cathedral from the 13th century.

Gaudi’s Tour

Start at Park Guell and enjoy a magnificent stroll there. Originally intended as city garden, this universal monument is an enchanted world projected by Gaudi. Capture every detail and nuance of this whimsical park, including the undulating bench covered with fragments of ceramic tiles, the market place, and more. After a brief drive, you will enter the Eixample where the Sagrada Familia is located. From the interior and exterior you will be given explanation of this amazing temple, unfinished and unique in the world. To finish this Gaudi tour, we will continue to Casa Mila and Casa Batllo, two houses which have unforgettable façades designed in Guidi’s surreal style.

Barcelona and Picasso

This tour covers some of the highlights of Barcelona, like Columbus Monument, Catalunya Square, and Passeig de Gracia, the most elegant and chic avenue in town. Stop at the amazing Sagrada Familia and then head to the Museu Picasso. You will be introduced to some pieces by Pablo Picasso, one of the most important figures in contemporary art, and many of his painting, drawings, engravings, and ceramics will be explained to you in detail. The tour will finish with a walk through the Gothic Quarter.
