One of the few remaining sections of the Berlin Wall is under threat from developers who plan to tear it down to make room for luxury riverfront condos

Gerhard Richter, widely regarded as the greatest living artist in Germany, turns 80 this year. Berlin is marking this major milestone with the huge retrospective, “Gerhard Richter Panorama”, which runs from February 12 to May 13.

Since 2005, Berlin’s Festival of Lights has offered residents and visitors alike something to look forward to on lengthening autumn nights. Starting October 12, dozens of the city’s buildings are awash in dazzling multicolored illuminations.
