Sydney’s New Year fireworks display might be one of the most talked about in the world, but Brisbane also offers its locals quite the show when the big ball drops. In fact, nearly 50,000 people take time out of their New Year’s Eve parties to bask in the colorful explosions occurring over the Brisbane River.

If 15 minutes of a glorious lights display is not enough for your New Year’s Eve celebrations, the following list of Brisbane New Years Eve events should help you plan the big night.

New Year’s Eve Dinner Cruise

Since the river literally runs through the city of Brisbane, it is no wonder that a river cruise is one of the more popular attractions for visitors in Queensland’s capital city, let alone on the big night of New Year’s Eve. For a spectacular evening, dinner cruises on the Brisbane River allow you relax away from the hustle and bustle of the town and then watch the fireworks with a perfect vantage point.

Brisbane’s New Year’s Eve Ball

The popular New Year’s Eve Ball occurs each year in Brisbane at the RNA Showgrounds, and this year’s theme is Heroes and Villains. With your ticket, gain access to free booze and food, and even get entry to an after-party at the Jubilee Hotel.

South Bank Surf Club – Tiki Cocktail Party

Each year, the South Bank Surf Club hosts a cocktail party for the big night of New Year’s Eve, and this year’s theme is Tiki Cocktail Party. In this case, the Tiki refers to a Hawaiian Luau, and party goers will be able to partake in drinks and a feast according to Hawaiian standards. Learn more and grab tickets early.
