Wondering where to be in Cancun come midnight this New Year’s Eve? Well, as you touch down in Cancun, you’re sure to hear just about everything from everybody about what’s going on to ring-in 2014. From the hotel or resort where you’re staying to every Senior Frog’s in the country, there will be festivities to be had, costumes to be donned, and drinks to be drunk.
Talk to the locals and get a bearing on the local parties, but for those of you who want to go out and have an all-inclusive stop on your list (drinks, food, streamers and hats included), consider your options. If you want masses of people, consider Coco Bongo, The City, or Daddy ‘O; for smaller packed parties (ones where you can, if you jump, see across the dance floor), consider Senor Frogs, Lucky Monkey, or Terraza. These carry some hefty price tags at times, but usually include everything you could want for a good time (and a massive hangover).
And while these bars and clubs have great good times, the various resorts that populate Cancun also make for a fabulous evening. Don’t feel like braving the masses? You might not have to – check with your concierge to see where they recommend for a happening good time – it could be your very own hotel. Hotel Riu and Grand Oasis have parties every year, and they usually make the record books – for one reason or another.
Keep in mind that Travelocity has repeatedly ranked New Year’s Eve in Cancun as one of the top destinations for several years running now, so it’s best to touch down, decide what you’ll be doing (boat party anyone) and book early. It gets a little crowded come midnight!
