Copenhagen, Denmark is about as kid-friendly as a major city can get. Within its borders, there are a bounty of choices for family fun, ranging from magical parks to thrilling rides, adventures and more.
Tivoli Gardens, the second-oldest amusement park in the city, is also one of the most famous. Packed with gorgeous grounds, it is an ideal spot for a family to spend time together. In addition, it offers nearly 30 rides perfect for kids of all ages. Plus, this spring, Tivoli will unveil an even larger garden area to enjoy.
For animal-lovers, the Copenhagen Zoo is a great option. Here, kids are treated to the likes of more than 3,000 animals. The Children’s Zoo, considered to be one of the best on the continent, lets kids interact with tamer animals, including goats, rabbits and more. There is even an area where the little ones can ride a pony. Plus, the zoo also includes a rainforest packed with reptiles which will delight lovers of the slithery variety. What’s better? Later this year, the city’s aquarium, The Blue Planet, will open.
From the beginning of June to the end of August, kids can soak up the sun and fun at the Harbour Bath at Islands Brygge. The baths come complete with a baby pool for the wee ones, plus a larger pool for older kids and adults. Popular with both locals and visitors, this is the spot in town to enjoy the warm summer weather in a controlled environment.
If you want the kids to learn something more, take them to The Children’s Museum. Open Tuesday through Sunday, the museum shows kids what life used to be like, and even offers dress-up opportunities and interactive experiences so kids can learn and play at the same time.
