Visitors to Dubai, that great gem of a modern travel destination in the United Arab Emirates on the Arabian Peninsula of the Persian Gulf, will want to plan a visit to the massive Mall of the Emirates (one of the world’s largest).
Clocking in at just under 2.5 million square feet, or 232,000 square meters, the mall has an astonishing array of shopping opportunities, eateries, and other tourist draws.
Among the many appealing attractions, Ski Dubai is the first indoors ski resort in the region. Skiing, snowboarding, and tobogganing, are all the order of the day at this resort. Be sure to try the hot chocolate.
If you have children in tow, the mall’s Magic Planet offers the largest indoor family entertainment center in the city. There are rides, racing simulators, several theaters (these being some of the most technologically advanced in the world), and other games and distractions.
Art lovers will appreciate DUCTAC, a facility within the mall that houses more than 15 distinct classrooms, theaters, and studios dedicated to the pursuit of painting, sculpture, music, photography, literature, and leisure (there’s a delightful cafe).
Although the famous Dubai Mall is bigger (it’s the largest mall in the world, in fact), Mall of the Emirates has some of the most enticing man made recreational opportunities in the Middle East. If you’re a shopaholic, or just a visitor to the region who is jonesing to hit the slopes (or some facsimile), you’ll want to check out this behemoth citadel of capitalism during your stay.
