If you are in Dubai for New Year’s Eve be prepared for the entire city to come alive! As part of your planning think of your budget and your style of celebration – many restaurants in Dubai are not licensed. If you want to indulge in an all out hotel party with food and beverages included, advanced bookings are an absolute must as most hotel parties sell out in September or October.
Crowne Plaza Dubai is famed for its extravagant parties and excellent views of the fireworks at the Burj Al Arab. Most licensed restaurants with a terrace and therefore fireworks view are located in or around the Souk al Bahar near the Dubai Mall. A lot of the local unlicensed restaurants will also put on a special spread.
One of the more popular events, Sandance NYE at Sandance Beach has turned into a regular event with a who’s who of headlining DJs and performers, so do check ahead. At the Meydan Racecouse is the Atelier Festival – another hedonistic all-night bash with top acts. Although tickets can be steep, most would agree this is money well spent for those wanting to secure a party.
Otherwise, several high-end places like Al Qasr hold spectacular celebrations with live music, an exquisite dinner buffet and an open bar deal all surrounding a magnificent fireworks display just outside.
If you are traveling to a dining or party venue, investigate booking a driver. Taxis, and traffic, can be somewhat of a headache in the wee hours of the morning.
