The world’s largest fair and easily one of the best festivals in Germany, the annual Oktoberfest in Munich is visited by over 6 million visitors from all over the world. Visitors come to drink beer, eat sausage and join together in spontaneous outbursts of traditional songs. Oktoberfest is famous for its massive pours in heavy steins, Bavarian bands, traditional costumes, and German hospitality.

Munich is home of Germany’s Oktoberfest, and it has a rich history. The first “Oktoberfest”, or something like it, took place in 1810. That’s when Bavaria’s Crown Prince Ludwig married Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen – an unusual match in that the bride was Protestant and the groom, like most Bavarians, Catholic.
