Explore some of Kauai's beautiful, secluded beaches

Not much is often said of Kauai. Known as the “Garden Isle,” this little Hawaiian island sits in the sea just like its other island brothers, yet has somehow retained more of a sense of wonder and isolation. Kauai is often visited for this reason, and a vacation escape here is one of the most peaceful and relaxing in Hawaii and the world.

Being known as the “Garden Isle” definitely has its perks. Some of the best activities you’ll find in Kauai revolve around getting you out there and experiencing its natural wonders; a full line of outdoor activities await you. Ziplining, snorkeling, hiking, camping, and ATV riding all are available. What’s in store for you? I recommend whatever seems best for your pace. One of the tourist and local favorites is a simple stroll through the lush valleys, coming across a one-lane bridge and small town, and getting lost in a bamboo forest. It’s island-time here on Kauai, and the pace is slow.

Kauai is also home to the only navigable rivers in Hawaii, so now’s a good chance to get out there and explore the pristine waterfalls and wandering estuaries. The Wailua River is a popular escape and while floating down, you’ll weave through the jungle landscape along the island’s East Side. Ocean Kayaking is also a popular activity, but can be a bit more of a challenge. The surge from the ocean can be strong, which, however, also leads to excitement! National Geographic has named Kayaking the Napali Coast in Kauai the second-best adventure in the United States. Not small praise.

So whatever you find yourself doing in Kauai, be sure to enjoy the Garden Isle at your own pace. There’s a whole world out there.
