Named in honor of its 15th century founder (a chieftain named Rao Jodha), Jodhpur is a popular tourist destination in the state of Rajasthan. Deccan is a region which gave the Koh-I-Noor diamond to the world (Deccan is an anglicized form of dakkhin, a term derived from the Sanskrit word dakshina, meaning south). Deccan has had a prestigious history and culture, which has produced some of the finest architecture of the sub-continent, an inventive regional cuisine and a creative literature.
