There are few places where it is more imperative to beat the heat than the Middle East. Luckily there are a number of beautiful beaches along the Red Sea coastline and elsewhere in Israel. The following are a few of the better places to take to the water.
1). Ein Gedi Beach. One of the most memorable things you can do in Israel is take a dip in the Dead Sea. Located at the lowest point on the planet, the Dead Sea is mineral-rich and reputedly therapeutic. Take to the water at Ein Gedi Beach and the high salt content will enable you to float effortlessly. Don’t stay in too long, however, or you’ll become the human equivalent of a pickle. And don’t forget to avail yourself of the fresh water showers when you’re through.
2). Gordon Beach. There’s nothing more refreshing after a day of schlepping about the Bauhaus buildings in the White City or elsewhere in Tel Aviv than taking a dip at Gordon Beach. It’s also a good place to socialize with Israelis and tourists staying at the nearby resorts and luxury hotels.
3). Coral Beach Nature Reserve. If it’s snorkeling you’re after, the strip of sand running parallel to some of Eilat’s reefs is a good place from which to embark on a scuba and/or snorkeling adventure. Gear and shower facilities are readily available. If you simply want to indulge in a pleasant swim, you may want to avoid this spot, as there is a pretty substantial population of spiny urchins and species of burning coral.
