Istanbul-the bridge between Asia and Europa hosted two great empires during long time and which has lots of historical remains from the Roman and Ottoman periods.
The most beautiful and largest imperial mosque of the city is Süleymaniye; standing on a hilltop of the ancient city over the Golden Horn, it contributes gracefully to the city’s skyline.
The 454-year-old Süleymaniye Mosque was re-opened by the end of 2010 after undergoing multiple years of restoration work. Over the course of the clean up, crews have uncovered original artifacts, including four-century-old İznik tiles.
