While many folks go to luxurious Las Vegas, not many ever really leave the playpen that engulfs its famous casino and entertainment rich strip, and for certainly good reasons. But the keen eye for culture will tell you there is more to do in Nevada than you think. Just like in those old western movies we all know and love, there are great chances to hop up on a horse and ride off into the sunset.

Go dune buggy racing through the dunes outside of Vegas!

The title says it all. Dune Buggy racing outside of Las Vegas? Incredible. Here again you’ll see me chalking up the adrenaline adventure to being behind the wheel of an internal combustion monster, but how could this be a bad time?
Different options exist, but this Mini Baja Buggy Half-Day Tour from Las Vegas gets an unprecedented five stars because they utilize real buggies, not underpowered Polarises or ATVs, and the engines and chassis are big enough to power you and your friends over the rugged Las Vegas terrain. Sound exciting? Strap on a full-face helmet, a five-point harness and slam your foot on the gas! But watch out for rocks. There’ll be nobody keeping you off of those, but yourself.

Torroweep Tours & The Las Vegas Power Pass

Here’s the Pink Jeep Torroweep Tour. From Las Vegas, you’ll get in these big 4×4 truck/shuttle bus hybrids and head to one of the most remote spots in the entire country, though I’m sure if you’re stuck in small town Alaska during the winter, you’d probably beg to differ. Anyway, you drive from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon in these big trucks, which is pretty neat drive (and if you disagree, they’re equipped with DVD players). Lunch is included, and the view of the canyon and the Colorado River is amazing.

Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour Packages

I have this friend. He’s kind of a naysayer, and when it comes to Las Vegas, he refuses to have anything to do with it short of a layover at the airport. Not surprisingly, he doesn’t like gambling and has absolutely no interest in casinos, and since he’s never been beyond the terminals at McCarran International Airport, he’s unfairly written off the whole city and Las Vegas Tourism in general. I thought this was ridiculous.
