Welcome to the Fabulous.

Welcome to the Fabulous.

There is so much to do in Las Vegas, all in very close proximity to your hotel! Here are some of the best things to do in this vibrant town and that isn’t gambling:

1. Adventuredome

Under the hot pink dome at the back of Circus Circus is Las Vegas’ only indoor theme park. This 5 ½ acre theme park is full of thrill rides, kids rides, 4-D Adventures and more. The top ride has to be Canyon Blaster which turns you upside down twice on the world’s only indoor double loop corkscrew coaster at speeds of up to 55mph. The Slingshot shoots you up with 4G’s of power behind you, while the Rim Runner will get you soaked to the skin! There really is something for everyone here, and a great way to escape the searing summer heat!

  • Where: Circus Circus Hotel
  • Open: Monday to Friday – 10:00am to 6:00pm. Weekends – 10:00am to Midnight
  • Cost: $24.95 for an all-day pass (48 inches or taller)

2. Bodies: The Exhibition

Now a global exhibit, Bodies is one of the most eye-opening exhibits around. Every detail of the human body is shown – using real human cadavers. This may sound a tad creepy, but they have been preserved using a special liquid silicone rubber. Some of this is confronting (especially for smokers!), but this is an incredible insight into the workings of the human body from the circulatory system (which is the most fascinating display) to the muscular system.

  • Where: Luxor Hotel
  • Open: Daily from 10:00am to 10:00pm
  • Cost: $31.00 per adult

3. CSI: The Experience

Like the namesake television series, this new attraction packs a lot of punch! Choose between one of three crime scenes and then visit a series of stations using touchscreens, displays and other multimedia equipment featuring DNA analysis, fingerprint technology to blood spatter patterns – to solve the murder. At the end of the CSI Experience Tour, see if you can crack the case by answering a series of multiple choice questions based on your findings in the lab.

  • Where: MGM Grand Hotel
  • Open: Daily from 10:00am to 10:00pm
  • Cost: $29.99 per person

4. Eiffel Tower

For some of the best views in Vegas, you can’t beat the Eiffel Tower Experience ride. This replica of the famous monument, which is an impressive half the size of the original in Paris, France takes you up 460 feet for incredible views of the Las Vegas valley – from the mountains of Red Rock Canyon to the west; the Stratosphere and downtown’s Fremont Street to the north; Tthe planes taking off from McCarran to the south and the mountains surrounding Lake Mead to the east.

  • Where: Paris Hotel & Casino
  • Open: Daily – 9:30am to 12:30am
  • Cost: $10 per person (9:30am – 7:30pm) / $15 per person (7:30pm – Close)

5. Madame Tussauds

This is no ordinary wax museum! Madame Tussauds have taken the concept and gone a few giant leaps ahead. Gone are the days of standing behind velvet ropes and watching from afar – now they encourage you to get up close and personal with the figures. Touch J-Lo’s famous butt and watch her blush; shoot some hoops with Shaquille O’Neal or have Elvis sing to you; you can even don a wedding dress and “marry” perennial bachelor George Clooney! There are so many figures here in the double level attraction that you just better make sure you have plenty of space on your flash drive as you’ll be taking photos of everyone from John Wayne to Princess Di to Hugh Heffner! Combo packages are also available.

  • Where: Venetian Hotel
  • Open: Daily from 10:00am to 10:00pm
  • Cost: $24.99 Madame Tussauds ticket cost per person

6. Shark Reef

Located at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas’s only aquarium has a wide variety of aquatic life to be seen! Celebrating its 10th year this August as well as its 10 millionth visitor, Shark Reef offers visitors the opportunity to see over 2,000 species of animals including the rare Shark Ray and Komodo Dragon. Also making their home here are a variety of sharks, crocodiles, turtles, piranhas, stingrays, jellyfish and more. With the animals featured in a number of different areas such as the Shipwreck, Jungle and Reef Tunnel, this is a great attraction for the entire family.

  • Where: Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino
  • Open: Daily from 10:00am to 8:00pm. Extended hours on Friday & Saturday
  • Cost: $16.95 per adult

7. Siegfried and Roy’s Secret Garden & Dolphin Habitat

They may no longer perform their magic act at the Mirage Hotel & Casino, but Siegfried & Roy are still here at their Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat. Their love for animals is very much on display here with the white tigers, panthers, leopards, lions and of course, dolphins all in an environment that would make most of us extremely jealous! Conservation is high on the priority list for these guys and that’s evident here. In addition to the admission price, you can become a ‘Trainer for a Day’ with their very personalized dolphin swim program (only 4 participants per day).

  • Where: The Mirage Hotel & Casino
  • Open: 10:0am to 7:00pm Daily
  • Cost: $15.00 per Adult

8. Stratosphere Rides

For full-on adrenaline pumping fun – look no further! 4 Stratosphere Tower attractions sit at the top of the tower – the tallest observation deck in the USA. First up – X-Scream. This giant arm lowers you like a see-saw (teeter-totter) 27 feet over the edge (yes, over the edge of the observation deck) some 866 feet above the strip. Then, try Insanity – The Ride – pretty much a giant claw dangling riders over the edge (yet again) and spinning them round with 3Gs’! Sound like fun? Then, the Big Shot! This shoots you up the spire 160 feet at 45mph (which is a whopping 4 G’s). At the pinnacle, you’re 1,081 feet above the Las Vegas Strip! However – for the ULTIMATE thrill, the newest ride to open here is the Sky Jump. This is a controlled freefall that drops you 800 feet (108 floors) down similar to a zipline. Supposedly you get great views of the strip, but I can’t imagine even opening eyes for this! And for those that need a little liquid courage before doing any of these rides – there is a bar on the 108th floor!

  • Where: Stratosphere Hotel
  • Open: Sunday to Thursday – 10:00am to 1:00am. Fridays & Saturdays – 10:00am to 2:00am. Weather dependent.
  • Cost: $35.95 for the Extreme All Day Unlimited Package

9. The Gun Store

OK, so this may seem like an unlikely “attraction”, but – the lines that form outside this place at times are ridiculous! First you select your gun/s & targets, then you’re given your ammunition, and then you grab your goggles and earmuffs. While on a Las Vegas Gun Store tour, one of their experts will then walk you into the firing range, load your gun and your target for you, then “bang bang!” Safety is never compromised – they take this stuff very seriously! This is one of the most adrenaline charged things you can do. Scary, but fun stuff!

  • Where: Tropicana Blvd
  • Open: Daily from 9:00am to 6:30. Extended hours Friday and Saturday
  • Cost: $159.99

10. Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition

This global exhibition displays actual artifacts from the doomed mega-ship The Titanic. There are a number of different displays that showcase life on board the ship, including a replica of the Grand Staircase and the Promenade Deck (where you can feel the same temperatures experienced that fateful night). Also on display are numerous items from the ‘unsinkable’ ship such as plates from the dining room, floor tiles, the ships whistle, luggage, personal items and more.

  • Where: The Luxor Hotel
  • Open: Daily from 10:00am to 10:00pm
  • Cost: $27.00
