Bloomin’ Beautiful at Huntington Gardens
March 1, 2013
“Something is always blooming at Huntington Gardens. “
Every time of the year is a special time of year in the Huntington Gardens. The old saying goes something like, “California doesn’t have seasons,” but that’s not true – and proof of it can be seen in a visit to the Huntington Gardens in Los Angeles. With over 14,000 different varieties of plant on display in 14 principal garden areas, you can find a delightful display of beautiful blooming flowers in the Huntington Gardens any time of the year.
Mulholland Drive
January 18, 2013
One of the most oft-given pieces of advice when first touching down in a new city is to get thy bearings. In a city the size and scope of Los Angeles, this can be a bit tricky. Luckily, one of the best activities in Los Angeles does just that for you – gives you your bearings. A scenic tour along Mulholland Drive is far and away one of the best ways to first experience Los Angeles.
Museum of Jurassic Technology
November 27, 2012
Head to the Palms District of Los Angeles (9341 Venice Blvd., Culver City, to be exact) and find this fun and bizarre collection of relics, sculptures and other-worldly displays. With no clearly discernible museum ethos, nor any particular epoch or art form to focus on, the Museum of Jurassic Technology proves to be a wonderfully refreshing look into the odd, the interesting, the oft-passed-over aspects of history and artistic world.
Electric Bicycle Tour of Santa Monica and Venice Beach
October 29, 2012
The tour starts with a few minutes of basic bicycle education—you do need to know how to ride a bike in order to ride an electric bike. The electric bike looks like a normal bike with the addition of a battery pack in the back and a throttle on the handlebar. On this thirteen mile tour, you can choose to pedal, use the electric power or a combination of both—my favorite.
Things to Do in Beverly Hills
August 31, 2012
34,000 residents call this 5.7 mile stretch of greater Los Angeles home, and during the day, those numbers swell to almost 200,000. Why? Because aside from being a Southern California cultural icon, there’s plenty of fun things to do and see.
L.A. on a Budget
April 11, 2011
The idea of L.A. on a budget might provoke snorts of jaded chuckles in some people, but those people probably live in L.A. so they have a deservedly cynical opinion. L.A. is expensive, no doubt about it. If you’re visiting, restaurants and bars will eat up your money in no time at all; finding L.A’s exclusive, best-kept secrets is part of the fun in visiting the city of Angels, but there are plenty of tourist activities that are no less entertaining. What’s great is that can see much of L.A.’s attractions with a sightseeing tour and a Go Los Angeles card, both of which get you discounted at much of L.A.’s highlights, and thereby making L.A. on a budget a perfectly attainable goal.
L.A.’s Movie Landmarks
January 11, 2011
One thing that’s great about L.A. if you love movies is that if you’re the type who plays close attention to a film, your eyes will pop out of your head in recognition by merely driving around the city. L.A.’s streets, downtown, river canals and neighborhoods are instantly recognizable to savvy moviegoers. For the rest of us, we at least have a nagging familiarity with the urban scenery crammed against the hills. If you fall into this latter camp, you’ll want to take an L.A. movie landmark tour next time you’re in the City of Angels.

Visitors to Los Angeles are usually drawn at some point to Hollywood, whether because they want to see the sign or the Walk of Fame or because they have dreams of stardom. Los Angeles is full of awesome attractions. If you ask me, the best sights in Los Angeles are the people, and I’m not even talking about celebrities. Los Angeles is brimming with real-life characters, and a lot of them will let you take a picture with them for a couple bucks. If this interests you, there are two places you want to go: Grauman’s Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard and Venice Beach.
