Melbourne Music Week returns for the second year running from November 18 to 26, and has a redefined artistic direction and an inventive program that takes place right across the city.
Showcasing local, national and international performers, Melbourne Music Week is a chance for emerging artists to be seen, as well as to enjoy, crowd-pleasing gigs by some firm favourites. Performers will set up at live music venues across Melbourne including more eclectic venues such as city laneways, record shops, bars and fashion stores.
KUBIK Melbourne – A series of free and paid events are happening at KUBIK on Birrarung Mar. KUBIK is an installation consisting of interconnected, glowing water tanks that change color in response to music.
Films – Several film-related music events will be featured as part of Melbourne Music Week, including a live performance by Melbourne’s Midnight Juggernauts who play live to a rarely seen, restored series of 1960s newsreels.
Kid friendly – Families might want to BYO music box and get down to the Ghetto Blaster Picnic at Birrarung Marr on November 26th. The DJ Kidz Party also takes place at nearby ArtPlay the same afternoon.
Designed to bring together and support the city’s thriving independent music scene, Melbourne Music Week aims to reach out to all individuals and organisations involved in the creation and celebration of local music. Taking place across nine days with over 170 live performances, DJ sets, films, workshops and conferences, music lovers won’t want to be anywhere else this November.
