Unlike Christmas in the Northern Hemisphere, Christmas in Melbourne is warm, sunny and smack-bang in the middle of summer. Despite this, Melbourne is a hub of festive spirit come Christmastime, and but for the temperature and lack of snow, you wouldn’t know you weren’t in the heart of a European wonderland.

Festive decorations, window displays, night markets, late night shopping and tons of themed events characterise the season in the city, but just in case you needed a little extra prompting, we’ve selected a few Christmas must-dos to get you in the spirit.

The windows are Christmas themed from November 8 to the 5th of January.

Carols by Candlelight

Especially For Kids

Santa in Christmas Square

Locations all over Melbourne get festive makeovers each Christmas so the kids get a chance to meet Santa. Visitors can hunt for Rudolph and his reindeer friends in the hedge maze, see a traditional nativity scene, and experience a sound and light shows in the evenings. Burnley Oval is hosting Santa’s Magical Kingdom from November 15 to December 23.
