Florida trips are a perfect choice for beach vacations, romantic getaways, family theme park holidays, and cultural nightlife experiences – but they’re not always a perfect choice for your wallet. Here are a few things to do in Miami that are completely free of charge:
1. Visit the World of Bacardi Museum.
Although you have to make an appointment in advance, tours of the Bacardi collection are free – and you get to see the evolution of the history of the famous rum since 1862, when the world got its first taste.
2. Ride the Metromover.
The Miami Metromover is a shining example of industrial progress and looks like something out of a futuristic world’s fair display; it’s a transportation system that takes you up and through the city, free of charge.
3. Visit the Holocaust Memorial.
Holocaust Memorials around the world never fail to offer a more grounded perspective on life; Miami’s in particular has a sculpture garden and reflecting pool – simple but elegant, and a mentally stimulating addition to a day of Miami exploring.
4. Walk through the Botanical Garden.
Always free, a Miami Beach Botanical Garden tour includes tropical plants, orchids, a Japanese Garden, and loads of places to sit and admire the greenery. It’s lush and peaceful, and it also hosts events like art exhibits, meditation workshops and educational programs.
5. Go to the Beach!
This one should be obvious, but it’s easy to forget that although most of the fun attractions around the world cost money, mother nature has the best ones – and they’re also the cheapest. See our recommendations for Miami’s best beaches.
