Nevermind that there’s another lake in Italy with the name “Maggiore” – Lake Garda is the country’s biggest lake. In fact, Lake Garda is actually in three different Italian regions – Veneto, Trentin-Alto Adige, and Lombardy – and the lake has different characteristics depending on where you are.

Italy is an incredibly mountainous country, from the Alps and Dolomites along the northern border to the Appenines running down nearly the whole length of the peninsula. The Dolomites in the north provide a wealth of activities, no matter the season and almost regardless of your interests.
