Seventeen steep curves and 40 chicanes greet the lucky adventure-seeker at the summer bob run at Blomberg Mountain. Fun and entertainment for all ages is the order of the day. Visitors can regulate the bob’s speed independently with a lever in the center of the bob. From March to October, visitors can race down the 4,000 foot-long course daily beginning at 9am. Families with kids will find a trip to Blomberg a fantastic experience. Particularly if the weather is good, this is an unbeatable destination.
During the wintertime, Blomberg is one of the longest and best winter bob runs in Germany. Skiers can also sample the wonderful floodlit slopes at night and sample the offerings at the Funpark or the Boarderpark (for those predisposed to snowboarding).
During the summer, you can climb the mountain by foot or take the double chair lift to get to the middle station. There are great entertainment programs for kids that involve other activities besides hurtling down the mountain. There are trampolines, a mini kart and motorbike course, water games and a petting zoo. There are also plenty of opportunities for hiking, and an assortment of restaurants to choose from.
This winter and summer wonderland is less than an hour’s drive from downtown Munich and is easily accessible by train, taxi, or car. Prices for rentals, admission to sledding, other activities and accommodations are reasonable. Responsible adults will want to sample the famous Glühwein and other locally produced libations.
