New York City Things to Do

In case you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the New York City sights you won’t have time to squeeze in on your trip, here are a few tips about ways to experience some attractions the sneaky way – that is, with less hassle. So while these aren’t exactly things ‘not’ to do at all, they are definitely things that you could consider doing differently!

Touring the City that Never Sleeps, aka the Big Apple, etc. is probably best done with a local who’s been living there forever and ever, but failing that, a good way to tour New York City is the Hop-On Hop-Off tours. On these double-decker buses, you’ll get to stop as many times and wherever you like. And so you don’t feel like you have to cram too much into one day, the passes are good for two days. You’ll catch all the sites Downtown (Macy’s, Soho), Uptown (Lincoln Center, Time Square) and other highlights such as the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty.

If you want to see the best sights, a New York City Hop-on Hop-Off Bus Tour is a good start. You get a two-day pass, which is great because, as the name implies, you’re able to get off the bus and spend as much time as you want checking out various sights.

In my opinion, merely watching the city go about its business is a sight to behold. Do yourself a favor and spend some time on a park bench or the like and see what the foot traffic looks like. Of course, you’ve probably come to New York City to see more than Central Park joggers or harried Manhattanites. New York does have some iconic landmarks; by taking a bus and walking tours, you’ll be sure to catch the highlights.
