There are plenty of options out there for the budget minded traveler who is looking for a great place to stay, close to all the action, but doesn’t break the bank account. Orlando houses literally hundreds of hotels and you can be sure that there’s plenty of healthy competition for a bargain place to stay close to the resorts. Most all of them offer swimming pools and transportation to and from the resort—all this at a fraction of what a stay would cost at the resort, so the question becomes what site offers you the best of what you’re looking for, or how, exactly, to get the best deal.

What most people don’t know is that not all hotels on Disney property are owned by Disney, and this means that deals can be had within walking distance to the resort’s attractions. The Swan and Dolphin, for example, are hotels within walking distance of Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot and offer discounted rates, yet participate in Disney’s transportation system.

Fantasy World Resort lies just a short three miles from Disney World, offers tennis courts, three swimming pools, basketball, shuffleboard, a game-room, and water park area for the kids. Each unit is a 2-bedroom villa in townhome style with full kitchen, offering guests a home-away-from-home experience while visiting the resorts.

Other options include looking into the surrounding areas for deals. Kissimmee St. Cloud and Lake Buena Vista are known for the abundance of discounted hotels and resort, and for being very close to the main theme parks (even hosting a few themselves).

Additional options for discounted rates include looking into various discounts. AARP, military, AAA, and government discounts are all widely accepted, but not to be overlooked are the availability of promotional discounts within the hotel itself. Many offer first-night last-night free offers, for example.
