One of the main attractions in Orlando are the parks at Disney World. While fun, these parks can often leave you standing in a mile-long line for a 30-second ride. Visiting Disney during times when it draws in the least amount of people is one way you can avoid spending all day waiting in line. In terms of what days of the week to visit, it varies by park.

This year marks a special milestone for the state of Florida, as 2013 is the 500th anniversary of Juan Ponce de León’s arrival to the state. Landing near present-day St. Augustine, the Spanish explorer is credited as discovering Florida, or “La Florida” as he called it, in 1513.

Those visiting Orlando, Florida, with an interest in art may want to check out the Zora Neale Hurston National Museum of Fine Arts. Located in nearby Eatonville, the museum pays homage to Florida writer and anthropologist Zora Neale Hurston and showcases rotating exhibits on artists, of African ancestry, Zora Neale Hurston herself and sometimes the community of Eatonville when working in conjunction with the adjacent Town Hall.
