For those spending their spring break at Walt Disney World, there are special events and attractions to take advantage of. Don’t miss the annual Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival, which takes place every year from around early March to mid-May and features flowers, vibrant gardens, unique exhibits, live music and educational programming. Admission is included with your Epcot Theme Park ticket. If you’re interested in continuing with your exploration of flora, the park offers a “Behind the Seeds” tour, which takes guests through four greenhouses and a fish farm to learn about gardening, unusual crops and insects, as well as see an alligator during feeding time. You can call (407)-939-8687 to make a reservation.
If you’re a sports fan, spring break at Walt Disney World is your opportunity to watch the Atlanta Braves during their spring training. From February 22 through March 28, attend marquee match-ups against the Braves and some of baseball’s top teams.
The Expedition Everest Challenge is another spring special event, taking place this year from May 3-4, 2013. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park transforms into an immersive obstacle course that tests the body and mind. Expect a scavenger hunt, 5k of challenges, mysteries and a post-race party. There are children’s races as well for younger participants.
And while the weather is nice, you may want to opt for a Characters in Flight tethered hot-air balloon ride. Take in 360 degree views of downtown Disney, the theme parks, resorts and beyond from 400-feet in the air. Also impressive is the ornate balloon, decorated with images of classic Disney characters.
