Man, is there a lot of sightseeing to do in Paris! When a city is hundreds of years old, it has plenty of time to acquire a lot of monuments, and if you aren’t ready for them, they can totally overwhelm you.
Now I don’t mean that you’re suddenly going to get mobbed by equestrian statues or cower under the majesty of the Arc De Triomphe, but Paris seems to have a point of interest every twenty feet, so it helps to be clued into which ones are worth spending your precious vacation time around.
Along those lines, a cruise on the Seine River is a great way to hit the highlights, especially if your purpose for sightseeing is so you can say you’ve seen a given something or other. This is not to say that Parisian attractions aren’t worth exploring, but if you prefer to get as native as possible on your trip, then getting the touristy stuff out of the way is paramount. Getting them out of the way from a guided boat trip is a great way to do this. For under $65 USD, a Seine River cruise includes a city tour by coach, a trip to the Eiffel Tower and a one-hour Seine River cruise. The whole thing takes about three hours, plenty of time to fill up a couple memory cards with pictures.
Another popular way to see Paris’ sights is by Segway. If you don’t know, a Segway is a personal vehicle that crosses a scooter with a lectern. They’re totally touristy, but they’re also 100% fun and easy to operate. For under a hundred bucks, you and a small group can check out Paris’ major sites and sights with an expert guide, zipping from monument to monument. I recommend a Paris Segway tour because it’s guaranteed to be memorable—if you’ve never ridden before, the tour provides you with some time to practice, which is also part of the fun. Then you can get back to finding the best baguette in Paris or lounging around discos.
