One of the things the French are famous for are their sweet treats – pastries, cakes, and desserts – and of these, one of their most famous gifts to the world is the macaron (as opposed to a “macaroon,” which is actually a coconut cookie) – two shiny, crisp, thin, meringue-like biscuits sandwiching a delicate cream. They are little bite-size explosions of flavor that weigh a few grams and entice the eye with their many colors and the palate with their many flavors. You cannot leave Paris without tasting at least one macaron.
