Okay! There’s love in the heart of the city. Well, love for foodies, that is. If you’re in San Francisco this weekend, get your gourmet on and chow down, Big Time! This Saturday, August 20th at 11am, the city will play host to the 3rd Annual San Francisco Street Food Festival, where literally dozens of street food vendors from all over the city open their carts and roll up their curtains to sell the best the California Coast has to offer in terms of graze-able food.
Since it’s San Francisco and since it’s a young city and since it’s early on in the festival’s heritage history, you can expect a blazingly good time. The women who run La Cocina, a Mission District food business incubator, decided to underestimated the street-food market two years ago and sat back with jaws agape as the crowds rushed in to eat. Last year they expanded and still the crowds clamored. This year their expanding still (and throwing in a scavenger hunt just for kicks) and, let’s be honest, I’m still expecting a crowd. Where exactly? They festival is scattered all throughout the city, so expect good eatin’ wherever you’re headed out this Saturday.
Vendors include some of the city’s already established finest and they serve alongside notable street food carts like the Crème Brulee Cart, El Huarache Loco, and Hapa SF. A number of out of town food trucks come as well: Seattle’s Skillet Street Food and L.A.’s Global Soul.
So foodies prepare and I’ll see you out there!
