Sometimes we’re presented with something of a problem when it comes to a night out on the town. For many of us, a night at the local watering hole doesn’t do us enough justice. It may be nice, but some nights, we’re looking for more stimulation, though nothing too raucous. Wouldn’t it be great then, if there was some sort of social outing in which attractive, intelligent people gathered and not only had a good time, but discussed issues vital to the world of today, to the world of tomorrow? With this ethos in mind, Nightlife at the Academy was born.

Yes, San Francisco has a healthy and abundant nightlife, and we all know and love it. Perhaps because of this or the fact that San Francisco is a young and exciting city, what better place than here to expand that nightlife into an overlooked venue: museums! If you think about it, it makes great sense. How many times have you been enjoying a pint and thought it would be great if you could get some stimulating conversation as well? Maybe expand your mind a little bit? Do something different?

Nestled inside the lovely Golden Gate Park, is the justly famous California Academy of Sciences. Long considered one of the must-see destinations in San Francisco, the Academy was founded in 1853 as a research institute, and still houses the majority of its original research material, as well as numerous updated exhibits. As it is one of the largest natural history museums in the world, visitors will be sure to find something of interest to every member of the family.
