New Year's Eve in Thailand

Already known as a crazy place to party, the added value of celebrating New Year’s Eve in Thailand can kick things up to a whole other level.

One of the liveliest New Year’s bashes in the country, nay, the region, will undoubtedly take place on the famous beach scene of Koh Phangan. Renowned for its hectic full-moon parties, the holidays give frequent party-goers an extra few reasons to celebrate. Enjoy loads of great bars and restaurants serving up giant buckets of sugar-laced beverages to the most vibrant crowd of travelers around. Once there, sign up for one of many organized volleyball and football matches sure to happen during the day.

With resorts, hotels and hostels all booking out weeks ahead of the crazy events between Christmas and New Year’s the number one thing to do is book your room as far ahead of schedule as possible.

If the journey to Koh Phangan is not possible, there will also be a ton of great New Year’s Eve events happening right in Bangkok. For something on the tamed side of things, enjoy a relaxing New Year’s boat cruise, easily booked online and serving up a buffet of western and local foods as well as being fully stocked with champagne for the occasion.

In town, it is going to be more about the whole area than a single place. The main party neighborhoods will all be in full swing, including Silom Soi 4 and all along Sukhumvit Road. In the up and coming Ekamai neighborhood, there is a far less scandalous but wonderful club scene, with places like Nunglen that will have a booming sound system sure to keep patrons dancing all night long.
