Bright colors, fun music, happy people – not to mention Bumper Boats, Spinners, an Express Train, Antique Carousel, Smash and Dash, AirForce flight, Ferris Wheel, and Dreamer’s Play Village.
Since its opening in 1985, the Fantasy Fair has become Ontario’s largest indoor amusement park, with a three-story play complex, nine family-friendly rides, arcade games, and specialty puppet and magic shows all within an area of just over an acre. It’s also a great place for a birthday party – call ahead to arrange face-painting and goodie bags for guests. A popular spot for wedding pics, Fantasy Fair allows newlyweds to take photos inside or reserve a ride if you pay an admin fee and sign a waiver.
The carousel is more special than it looks – although the horses have been reconstructed from fiberglass, the structure is a century old! And the Ferris Wheel is the only one of its kind in North America (side-loading and second-story loading wheel). The Fair also works alongside charity events and fundraisers.
The Fantasy Fair is located at the Woodbine Shopping Centre in Etobicoke (silent “k”) – in the western part of the city of Toronto. It’s open from 11am-7pm every day. Don’t miss out on afternoon events such as the short but super-musical Groovin’ Toons on August 24th or the Trevor Show on October 29th.
Admission to the park itself is free, but to take advantage of the rides, day passes are $14.50, $16.75, or $15.50 depending on height (under 36”, under 54”, and over). Individual ride tickets are $3.75 or 10 for $35.50. Family passes are also available (4 people / $55.42, including at least one adult).
Remember, you are responsible for watching children you bring into the park – and if they’ll want to crawl around Play Village, make sure they wear socks! No shoes or bare feet allowed.
