When visiting Vancouver in the summertime there are many beaches near by to enjoy, like English Bay Beach in Stanley Park, the popular Kitsilano Beach at Vanier Park and for the brave, the clothing optional Wreck Beach located in the Pacific Spirit Regional Park.

For those visiting Vancouver during the winter, there are many seasonal attractions and activities. Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast, love adventure or just want to relax, there is something for everyone near the city. Here are some suggestions on experiences to add to your winter itinerary in Vancouver.

Climbing up the face of Vancouver‘s Grouse Mountain, a hike called the Grouse Grind, attracts over 100,000 visitors each year. The route is (aside from an all-natural cardio workout) well-marked, steep but doable, and rewarding with sweeping views.

You’d have to be of a particularly warped disposition – perhaps with a phobia of grass or a deep-rooted hatred of trees – to dislike Stanley Park. In many ways, it sums up everything that Vancouver is about; culture, wholesome outdoor enjoyment, room to breathe and a perhaps delusional determination to ignore the weather.
